Seminar Series - Scene Analysis - Commences Feb 8th, 2025

  • Week One

Like anything in life you can’t get anywhere without a solid foundation and I believe that is also true for auditions. In week one, we discuss objectives. How to identify my objective, why it’s important to elevate my work. We also look at the arc of a scene, where you start and where you finish and the acts within a scene.

  • Week Two

This week we look at how to raise the stakes in an audition, why your character wants what they want and how they are going to get it. We look at actionable verbs to go after our objective and what happens if you do not get it.

  • Week Three

Week three begins by looking at relationships within our scenes. Why character background work is important and how we can link this to our own experience for a fuller performance. We also look at characters moment of decision and discovery within a scene.

  • Week Four

Using the theory we have learned over the last three weeks we look at case study scenes and inject everything we have discovered and learned over the three weeks. To know how to put in to practice what we have discovered to in our work and to “leave yourself alone” and trust the theory in your performance.
